It's a nice little tucked away restaurant that sells burgers, steaks etc. The food is good but maybe slightly overpriced. The service was very friendly and we were given their full attention as it is quite a small restaurant.

If you like burgers this place does good ones,if you sit upstairs which is cute and wobbley and cosy(you will see what i mean)they do sometimes leave you alone a bit to long for my liking, but still worth going to, another rather calorific place though.

i had the misfortune of eating here last week after reading many good reviews on the internet about it. the place was grotty, was greeted by a scruffy unfriendly waiter that needed a good wash, he didnt stop scratching his head, touching his face while i was there,i saw him wipe his hands on a tea towel and later on cleaned glasses with same. food wasnt great, potato skins were burnt and oily, service was slow despite only the 2 of us being there, the bacon on my burger was burnt and i didnt eat most of my mean as i didnt feel safe eating there incase id get ill. never again.

AAAGGGHHH! I have been eating here for the 4 years I've lived in Brighton (and actually before I moved here too). This used to be my absolute favourite restaurant in town and I would have raved about it, say 2 years back, but I have to say it has slid right down the toilet of late. It used to be cosy, very friendly and full of charm (always perhaps a little hot and maybe could be cleaner!). I have reserved judgement over my past 3 visits to see if it really going downhill but sorry it definitely is. Has it been taken over by someone new, I wonder, who simply doesn't understand the old Blind Lemon Alley style? If you only go once, you may still think this is a great little place, but I promise you, if you've been going over a lengthy period you would notice the decline in standards - it's certainly going off the boil. They now charge for some of the burger fillings which used to be one of their cute USP's and no longer have live music on a Sunday. The service takes so long (40 mins tonight, until we got our first drink). They didn't turn any music on upstairs so we had to end up listening to the loud woman next to us braying (and it can feel very close at times like that). The food's still quite good and filling but I felt like I was eating in a very hot (when will they get A/C?), overcrowded deafening underground tube station. Really dreadful, I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible (very difficult as the service was so slow - just one poor girl running up and downstairs). The waitresses used to be so lovely there but now there's a different one the last few times I've been there so it doesn't feel as personal. I'm so sorry this isn't a more cheery review, but I feel so hard done by as this place used to be SO much better. I guess it's ok for a one hit wonder restaurant, particularly if you're in a loud group, but it's not for me anymore - I miss how it was at it's peak too much! My tip: if you're going in a couple, ask for seat downstairs.
